8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Southern Methodist University

Dallas, Texas

The North Texas Library Assessment group will be holding its Spring 2015 meeting at Southern Methodist University on Friday, March 20th — and you’re invited!

During this meeting, we will be exploring three topics in library assessment: dynamic technology to support space use assessment, research to link library instruction with student success, and assessment of outreach efforts.  We’re also asking you to participate by sharing updates on your assessment projects.  And as always, we’ll have time to network and catch up with colleagues in a fun, casual atmosphere.

Please click here to view or download a PDF with detailed SMU campus map and directions.

NTLA attendees are encouraged to register for a parking pass valid at multiple options near the library.  Parking is included with a $10 lunch reservation, courtesy of the SMU Faculty Club meal discount. Otherwise parking is $5.

Free parking is also available at Mockingbird Station.  See directions below on how to get to the library from Mockingbird Station using DART Rail.  See the PDF map for directions to park your car at Mockingbird Station.

DART–Take the Blue, Red, or Orange lines and exit at Mockingbird Station.  From there you can ride the free SMU Express or Museum Express bus to the library, or it is an easy 20-minute walk.  The bus stops are just across from the parking lots, outside of the station.  Ask the driver to let you know when you’re near Fondren Library and/or Dallas Hall.  For more information about accessing SMU campus without a car, click here.

Lunch will be held at the Umphrey Lee Center, a short 5-minute walk across SMU’s beautiful campus.  The usual cost for lunch is $10+tax for an all-you-can-eat buffet, which includes vegan, gluten-free, and other healthy options.  However, please RSVP for lunch in advance at the time of registration to take advantage of the SMU Faculty Club meal discount which allows us to offer the lunch and parking combo for $10.  If no parking pass is needed, you can still register in advance for the discounted lunch price of $6.  Payment is due upon arrival at the meeting (cash, check, or Paypal).  Unfortunately, the dining room cannot accommodate outside food.  There are many places nearby to take a brown-bag lunch and there are other nearby dining options.  However, we encourage you to join us for lunch so we can continue discussion and networking.

Questions? Email Zoltan Szentkiralyi or Laurel Crawford

On behalf of the NTLA steering/planning committee (Laurel Crawford, Karen Harker, Alma Ravenell, Danelle Toups, Zoltan Szentkiralyi), we hope to see you at SMU on March 20th!
