I thought I’d start a new “column” or category: Recommended Reading.  Feel free to post an article or book that you found quite relevant to library assessment.

Rightsizing the Academic Library Collection – Books / Professional Development – Books for Academic Librarians – New Products – ALA Store.

This book is essentially about weeding…but don’t call it that.  “Rightsizing” implies a higher aim than simply throwing stuff out. The author, Suzanne Ward, suggests that there is a right or best size for your collection, and she provides some guidance on achieving that balance.
